Codeine and me

Well i have been to the doctors and i am now waiting to hear from the drug addiction unit in Newry.
I really need to get off codeine for good!!
I know i can do it but it will be a long painful tough road to becomming "clean"

The doctor said they will probably reduce the amount gradually until i am off them totally.
Other options can include

1 Stopping straight away and going through severe withdrawal that will make me quite ill for a
few weeks with headaches, vomiting, diohrea, feeling like i have the flu, muscles cramps all
over my body, anxiety, depression, pain, confussion etc but i dont think my body could
handle that!!!

2 Using a substitute like Methadone, the drug they use to get heroin addicts clean, but, it will
only help a little plus it can be addictive too.

3 The Waismann method that is not used here that i know off. They will put you into a coma for
a few days and use drugs to fool your body into thinking youre still taking codeine until
all the codeine has left your body and there will be no real withdrawal, but, this method is
very expencive and only really used in extreme cases in America etc.

If it comes to it i may have to go into a rehab clinic for a little while, 15 miles away in Armagh, i dont want to go there but i will if they decide its my best option. I am someone who prefers familiar surroundings when im ill and get bored so easily when i have no tv or internet.

If i do go in, i hope they will let me take my laptop and mobile, as being deaf, they are my means of communication, i cant make a quick call to a loved one like a hearing person, i rely on texts and emails!!

But, above all i just want to get my life and health back on track, i have been on these damn pills since i was 21/22 so 11 years!! FAR TOO LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just need the strength and support from those i love most!!
I will try to use blogs as a sort of diary of how i am progressing through it all
