Newry City 3 Institute 1

A Chris Morgan scored a hat-trick as Newry City brushed aside the challenge of Institute at the Showgrounds.

Morgan netted the opener in the 21st minute, shooting in from 10 yards after Stephen Garrett's effort was blocked.

The former Linfield and Glentoran striker got his second just two minutes later, firing into the roof of the net from Garrett's low right-wing cross.

Morgan made it 3-0 when David Munster's shot was deflected while David Ogilby netted a late goal for Institute.

It means Newry have started the season with four points from a possible six while Institute have lost both of their Premiership matches.
