Being Deaf

Only been totally deaf for a few months, back then i thought my world was over i started sitting in a very dark place!!!
I love music and i miss it like mad and i yearn for the day i can hear again and i know i will when i get the cochleal implant i so desire. I have my first appointment with the implant team in 2 weeks and i am very excited about it and nervous!
I have never had any kind of surgery and tthis is a five hours operation !!!
Then i have a few weeks to wait until they switch my "robo-ear" on!!
That day will be a very emotional day, one i thought would never happen...

I am dying to hear my angel Marcis voice for the first time, that will be wonderful hearing her say "I Love You" knowing me ill have those wet drippy things coming out of my eyes lol..

I have loads o questions i want to ask the implant team like:

• will my balance improve with the implant
• do i get to choose the colour of the outer bit of the hearing aid lol
• do you get the accessories for connecting to ipods etc with it
• what kind of quality sound will i hear
• what risks are there with the operation
• is it possible to get the right ear done eventually too
• what follow up care is provided

I am sure there are many more questions i will think of and put on my list!

Its just a shame they cant fix the rest of me at the same time hehe

but hey its who i am!

I was a hearing man, then a hard of hearing man now im a deaf man who does not want to be part of the deaf community as he knows he belongs in the hearing world, even tho at the moment he is sitting inbetween both worlds. I will still have to take lip reading classes so that i can definatly understand people talking and i think i may eventually learn sign language.

Got to say thanks to Marci for being so supportive and understanding thru all this, she only knows me as being deaf davy but she knows with or without hearing i am still the same davy, IM HER DAVY. At least when i hear again she wont get a sore hand from having to write everything she wants to say to me lol

Must be frustrating for someone trying to talk to me as i rely on them writing things down, i know dad gets annoyed at it all but its not my fault i cant hear so be patient dad lol and follow the tips i gave you, dont do the opposite lol
